Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scotties Fall Twice in the Labor Day Smash

DECATUR, Ga. —Agnes Scott Volleyball dropped two matches today in the first ever Agnes Scott Labor Day Smash. The Scotties opened the Smash with a 3-0 loss to Methodist University, before losing to Brevard College in the day's finale.

The Scotties fall to 0-3 on the season.

MU 3 – 0 Agnes Scott: 25-12, 25-15, 25-17

The Monarchs controlled rallies for much of the afternoon as Agnes Scott was unable to string multiple points together for the majority. Methodist was able to pull away in each set with big runs to put the Scotties in difficult positions they were unable to dig out from.

Agnes Scott dropped the match to the Monarchs for the second time in three all-time meetings. The Scotties beat the Monarchs 3-2 in 2016.

Summer Davis (Atlanta, Ga.) was the leading point-getter with six kills, while Zoie Pace (Dallas, Texas) and Jessa Torres (San Antonio, Texas) combined for 10 points in total.

Adrionna Foster (Oxford, Ala.) set up a season high 21 assists and three blocks.

Brevard College 3 – 0 Agnes Scott: 25-19, 25-7, 25-16

The first two sets followed a similar trajectory as the opening match for the Scotties, but a solid third set gave the Scotties hope as things begin in click in the matches ahead.

Davis was the top offensive player for the Scotties in the second match with five of Agnes Scott's 11 kills in the match. Foster added nine more assists.

Agnes Scott will return to the court on Wednesday, September 7th as they host the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University at 7 p.m.
