Scotties Fall 5-0 to Mississippi University for Women at Home

DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott soccer team wrapped up another home contest hosting the Owls of Mississippi University yielding a 5-0 decision this afternoon at Gellerstedt Field.

The Scotties (0-3) struggled on both ends of the field against the undefeated Owls (2-0).

MUW came out firing, tallying 11 shots in the first period of the match before Kendry Crabtree gave them their first goal.

Molly Moore kept the momentum going for the Owls and extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal of her own. Going into the half, Mississippi University for Women had netted another goal to go up 3-0.

The Scotties put up a good fight with closing the opening half securing three shots. Agnes Scott finished the half with three saves to the Owls one. 

The second half the Scotties got in its groove with finishing with seven shots. The Scotties had two corner kicks and three saves. First-year Iris Ray led the Scotties with four shots with two shots on goal. Marilyn Bates recorded three shots with one shot on goal. Agnes Scott finished the contest with eight shots and four shots on goal. 

The Owls added netted two more goals to bring the score to 5-0.

Despite allowing five goals, Scottie's goalkeeper Ashley Kopczyk also collected an impressive six saves.

Agnes Scott will now play three of its next games on the road before returning home on September 18th hosting the Spirits of Salem College at Gellerstedt Field.
