DECATUR, Ga. – Maryville College scored six goals in the first half in a 10-0 win over host Agnes Scott College in soccer action at Gellerstedt Field on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Scotties drops to 1-5 on the season.
The Scots (6-3-1) opened the scoring 3:57 into the game when Sierra Lee found the goal for the first of her four goals of the game. Lee then scored followed by Delaney Muldoon for a commanding 3-0 Maryville lead.
The offensive barrage continued as Maryville scored three more times for a 6-0 lead at the half.
Ashley Kopczyk (Elgin, Ill.) allowed 10 goals while making 11 saves in the game for the Scotties.
Maryville outshot the Scotties, 39-to-2 in the game, including 19-to-2 in the first half.
"It was our first conference game, we came out, we played against a tough team," said team captain Kayla Brooks. "We tried our hardest, connected some passes, but we're just ready for this season to move forward. We're going to look past this game and just start over training for tomorrow."
The Scotties returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 28, with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff at home against Piedmont University at Gellerstedt Field.
