Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Agnes Scott basketball lose 91-39 at Piedmont University

DEMOREST, Ga. – Piedmont University outscored the Scotties 48-20 in the first half and cruised to a 91-39 victory at home this evening inside Cave Arena. With the loss, moves the Scotties to 1-19 overall (1-12 USA South).

The tone for the game was set early, when Piedmont bolted to a 21-11 lead to end the first quarter. Agnes Scott had one of its slowest halves of the season, connecting on only 1 of 6 shots (16.7%) and scoring only nine points in the second quarter.

To its credit, Agnes Scott did not quit in the second half. But the poor first half, combined with an athletic Piedmont team, was too much for the Scotties to overcome.

Taylor Brooks and Erika McLeod led the Scotties with nine points each respectively. McLeod finished with nine points, seven rebounds and one steal. Taylor Brooks finished with the contest contributing nine (9) points, two assists and two steals.

YaMea Elliot-Allen contributed six points each for the Scotties in the loss.

For Piedmont, Brittany DeVane led the way with 17 points. Bentley Cronic added eight points.

The Scotties will return to action on Sunday, February 6, 2022 as they travel to Brevard, North Carolina for a conference match-up against Brevard College. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
