DECATUR, Ga. ----The Oglethorpe women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Agnes Scott College at the Byers Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon. Despite the results of the match the Scotties played some very exciting tennis today.

"Overall, the goal today was to come out and manage ourselves and to play some good tennis, and I think that is exactly what we did," head coachÂ
Keva Godfrey said. "We took care of the things we could control on our end: high first serve percentages, good returns in the court and we hustled and we stayed focused."

Scotties first yearÂ
Viviana Turner (Leavenworth, Kan.) and first yearÂ
Brandy Nalyanya (Aurora, Colo.) secured a set victory before Izzy Foster and Lily Allyene (Anderson, S.C.) took the 8-1 victory at the number one doubles flight.Â
Leilah Lewinson (Lithonia, Ga.) andÂ
Katiuska Toral Castillo (Columbus, Ohio) yielded a 8-0 decision at the number two doubles spot.Â

Castillo had a hard-fought match with Oglethorpe's Adeline Horton at the number five singles flight. Adeline won the first set 6-1, while Katiuska lead in the second stanza before Horton came back to win 7-5.

Oglethorpe earned straight set triumphs in the other singles matches. Sydney Dattilo defeated Scotties first yearÂ
Brandy Nalyanya 6-1, 6-0 at the number one singles position. In the number two singles match, Alyssa Merletti defeated Scotties first yearÂ
Viviana Turner 6-3, 6-0.

Agnes Scott tennis team will return to action as they travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to participate in the Spring Tennis Fest on March 14-18. The Scotties will face Shepherd University. St. Mary's College of Maryland, Lancaster Bible College and SUNY Geneseo.Â
