BEREA, Ky.— Berea College outlasted Agnes Scott Soccer this afternoon at the Berea College Sports Complex by the final score of 3-0. The Mountaineers scored once in the first half, but the game remained tight until a pair of goals for the home side over the second half of regulation.
The first half saw the Scotties with one shot attempt while Berea collected 12 and back-and-forth possession. Berea's goal from Alyssa Tittsworth in the 19th minute was the only difference between the two sides over the first 45 minutes.
Berea's depth proved vital in the second half as the mountaineers wore down the Scotties to the tune of a 15-4 shot advantage. Agnes Scott was able to keep things close on the defensive end for much of the period, but Berea was finally able to break through in the 69th and 85th minutes with strikes from Abigail Hansford and Bailee Franklin.
Ashley Kopczyk (Elgin, Ill.) took the loss in goal for the Scotties despite making nine saves. Kyla Simmons Stopped one Agnes shot.
Ryleigh Bennnett, Iris Ray, Marilyn Bates, Peighton Freeman and Megan Selecky all registered one shot attempt each for the Scotties. Freeman registered one shot on goal.
Agnes Scott (1-8) will next return home to host the Blazers of Belhaven University on Thursday, October 14th. Kick off is slated for 3 p.m.
