Scotties Drop Meeting with Maryville College (TN) on the Road, 65-49

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College outscored the Scotties 45-19 in the first half and cruised to a 65-47 victory at home this evening inside Cooper Athletic Center. With the loss, moves the Scotties to 0-10 overall (0-4 USA South).

The tone for the game was set early, when Maryville bolted to a 25-17 lead to end the first quarter. Agnes Scott had one of its worst halves of the season, connecting on only 1 of 12 shots (8.33%) and scoring only two points in the second quarter.

To its credit, Agnes Scott did not quit in the second half, outscoring Maryville 28-20. But the poor first half, combined with an athletic Maryville team, was too much for the Scotties to overcome.

Lindsay Moore and Ivey Portis led the Scotties with 11 points each respectively. Portis finished with four rebounds, three rebounds and one steal. Taylor Brooks finished with the contest contributing nine (9) points.
Sydney Evans and YaMea Elliot-Allen contributed six points each for the Scotties in the loss.

For Maryville, Shelby Hix led the way with 22 points. Hannah Jones added 15 and Elsa Eckenrod had eight.

The Scotties will return to action on Saturday, January 8th as they travel to Berea, Kentucky for a conference match-up against Berea College. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
