DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College basketball team got its first win of the season on its Senior day Saturday afternoon defeating Wesleyan College 62-48 victory inside Woodruff Gymnasium to move to 1-17 on the season.
Agnes Scott pulled out their best defensive effort of the season to date, allowing just 48 points, the lowest point total this year, while forcing 12 turnovers in the win.
YaMea Elliot-Allen finished with her second double-double of the season, as she put up 18 points and added 12 rebounds.
Lindsay Moore added 11 points, two rebounds and five assists. Senior Shay Sweat rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.
The Scotties started the game with adding 14 points to take the advantage over Wesleyan College. ASC forced Wesleyan College into eight first half turnovers, and holding the Wolves to just 25 points on 8-34 shooting from the field.
Leading 6-2 with 6:42 remaining in the opening period, the Scotties continued to add points over the next remining minutes to jump out to a 14-7 lead with Senior Shay Sweat adding two from the free throw line.
The Scotties continued to add points with YaMea securing the opening basket to make the score 16-7. Two Scottie baskets advanced the lead 22-13 with 7:49 left in the quarter. After a bucket by Lindsay Moore with 57 seconds remaining, the Scotties went into the half with a 33-25 lead.
The Scotties open the third with adding two points at the free throw line. Taylor Brooks then collected a basket to edge the Wolves 37-27 with 8:08 left in the third quarter. ASC would grow its lead 46-32 on a three pointer by YaMea Elliot-Allen with 2:49 in the quarter. Elliot -Allen closed out the quarter with securing another three pointer with 8 seconds left to edge Wesleyan 49-36 after three.
The Scotties would not look back en route to the victory.
