DECATUR, Ga. –
Taylor Brooks had 12 points and two assists as the Scots of Maryville College rolled past Agnes Scott College 98-39 this afternoon.
Kayla Jones added nine points and three rebounds,
Erika McLeod also scored seven,
Sydney Evans had six and
Lindsay Moore and
Sierra Lee scored two points to help the Scotties in the contest.
Taylor's 12 points led the Scottie squad, while
Kayla Jones scored nine and
Ivey Portis collected a team-high seven rebounds.
The Scots shot 48.8% from the field (39-80) with 85.7% from the free throw line (12-14). Agnes Scott was held to just 15 field goals for 25.4% shooting.
Maryville started off strong opening the contest with a 28-12 advantage over Agnes Scott after the first quarter. The Scots continued to build its lead in the second quarter will adding 24 points and holding the Scotties to only eight points to take a 52-20 advantage into the halftime break.
Maryville dominated the second half, scoring 26 points in the period. Kayla had five points in the half, including two baskets off the glass in an attempt to inspire the team. However, Maryville went on to claim the 98-39 victory.
Agnes Scott will return to action on Sunday, January 23
rd as they host the Mountaineers of Berea College for a conference match-up. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
