MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Agnes Scott sophomore Erica McLeod had her first double-double performance of the season with 11 points, but she was unable to lead her team to victory as the Scotties fell to the Hawks of Huntingdon College, 69-47, on Tuesday night.
The loss dropped Agnes Scott to 0-14 on the year, while the Hawks improve to 5-9.
Two LaGrange players scored in double figures, led by Ry Whetstone with 18. Whetstone also had a team-best six rebounds in just 19 minutes of play. Kennedy Ryan Jackson scored 10 respectively, on the night.
YaMea's 12 points led the Scottie squad, while Erica scored 11 and collected a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Hawks shot 37% from the field (27-73) with 57.1% from the free throw line (12-21). Agnes Scott was held to just 16 field goals for 29.1% shooting.
Huntingdon started off strong opening the contest with a 22-10 advantage over Agnes Scott after the first quarter. The Hawks continued to build its lead in the second quarter will adding 17 points and holding the Scotties to only 11 points to take a 39-21 advantage into the halftime break.
Huntingdon dominated the second half, scoring 30 points in the period. YaMea had six points in the half, including two baskets off the glass in an attempt to inspire the team. However, Huntingdon went on to claim the 69-47 victory.
Agnes Scott will return to action on Saturday, January 22nd as they host the Scots of Maryville College for a conference match-up. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.
