LAGRANGE, Ga. – Agnes Scott first year
Lindsay Moore had a season high 15 points, but she was unable to lead her team to victory as the Scotties fell to in-state rival LaGrange College, 77-46, on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped Agnes Scott College to 0-13 on the year, while the Panthers improve to 9-6.
Three LaGrange players scored in double figures, led by Gracie Brunel with 16. Jalaya Lewis and Breonna scored 14 and 10, respectively, on the night.
Moore's 15 points led the Scottie squad, while
YaMea Elliot-Allen scored 10 and
Shay Sweat collected a team-high eight rebounds.
The Panthers shot 41.9% from the field (31-74) with 69.2% from the free throw line (9-13). Agnes Scott was held to just 15 field goals for 30% shooting.
Agnes Scott started off strong opening the contest with a 14-8 advantage over LaGrange after the first quarter. The Panthers quickly regrouped in the second quarter will adding 25 points and holding the Scotties to only 11 points to take a 33-25 advantage into the halftime break.
LaGrange dominated the second half, scoring 44 points in the period. Moore had six points in the half, including two baskets off the glass in an attempt to inspire the team. However, LaGrange went on to claim the 77-46 victory.
Agnes Scott will return to action on Tuesday, January 18
th as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama for a conference match-up against the Hawks of Huntingdon College. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. (CST).
