MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Agnes Scott College (ASC) volleyball team fell short in the Pfeiffer University Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon.
The Scotties faced the host Pfeiffer University for the first match of the event. ASC was not able to secure a set, falling 3-0.
First-year Taylor Carnley led the Scotties with four kills, eight assists, and one block while Summer Davis and Jada Bryant stepped in with two kills each. Alecia Holmes-Terry collected six digs for Agnes Scott. The Scotties finished the contest against Pfeiffer with 14 kills, four (4) aces, 12 assists and 20 digs. Pfeiffer was led by Morgan Shrader who collected nine (9) kills and eight digs. Kylee Mayberry finished with six (6) aces and 18 assists.
Agnes Scott took on the Carolina University Bruins for their second match of the day. The Scotties put up a fight but could not take the game, with a final score of 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-23).
First-year Summer Davis controlled the court with five (5) kills while junior Alex Roquemore stepped in with five (5) kills. Taylor Carnley added 11 assists.
Although the Bruins secured the first few points of the opening set, the Scotties picked up their pace to come closing the gap. The Bruins then managed to maintain the lead and never looked back ultimately taking the set, 25-17.
Collecting the first points of set two, the Scotties maintained an early lead over the Bruins. Carolina University managed to take the lead and secure back to back points to take set two, 25-17.
Set three looked similar as it ruled in favor of Carolina University with a set score of 25-23.
The Scotties will be back in action as they travel to Mount Vernon, Georgia for a 6pm a non-conference match against Brewton Parker on September 28.
