Maryville Serves Way Past Scotties to Spoil Home Debut

Box Score

DECATUR, Ga.—Maryville College (4-1) used a dominant service game to spoil Agnes Scott's home opener with a three-set sweep. The Scots piled up 21 service aces in the game to beat the Scotties 25-12, 25-4, 25-4.

Morgan Smithson led all players with eight kills and an eye-popping .727 hitting percentage. Katie Wallin distributed 13 assists, while Emily Rogers led the match with eight digs.

After an initial back-and-forth game in the opening set, Maryville was able to run by the Scotties with a service game that kept the home team scrambling. Amii Ingalls was a major component in that regard, connecting on a game-high six service winners while keeping the Scotties guessing.

Summer Davis (Atlanta, Ga.) had a team-high two kills for the Scotties, who scored a season-low five points on offense. Carmen Ross (Roswell, Ga.) led the Scotties with five digs.

Huntingdon comes into town on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. first serve.
