Box Score BREVARD, N.C.--Junior Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) scored in double figures for the fourth time in five games but Brevard pulled away from Agnes Scott 86-32 on Tuesday evening.
The Tornados used a full-court press for much of the first half and held the Scotties to only four attempts from the floor through the first 13 minutes of gameplay. Brevard forced the Scotties into tough turnovers, giving themselves easy looks in transition and a 20-4 lead after one quarter.
Agnes Scott settled down from there, scoring at least nine points in each of the final three quarters. The combination of Sweat and Erika McLeod (Snellville, Ga.) was a major reason why as the two teamed up for 22 of the Scotties' 32 points in the game.
Jasmine Thompson (Chicago, Ill.) made up most of the rest of the scoring for the visiting Scotties, as the sophomore transfer scored nine points in nearly a full game of work.
Brevard's Destiny Williams led all scorers with 20 on 7-of-8 shooting. The Tornados forced 29 Agnes Scott turnovers and scored 35 points off of them for the game.
After its hot start to the season on the glass, Agnes Scott has now been outrebounded in three consecutive games. Brevard held a 55-27 advantage on Tuesday.
The Scotties have another short layover before heading to Lookout Mountain, Ga. on Thursday night for a USA South showdown with Covenant College.
