Box Score DECATUR, Ga. – The Agnes Scott College basketball team closed out the 2021 Agnes Scott College Tip-off Classic falling 81-45 to Belhaven University on Saturday afternoon at Woodruff Gymnasium.
Agnes Scott College shot just 33 percent from the floor (16-of-48) and made only 10 percent (1-of-10) from the 3-point arc. A bright spot was hitting 12-of-18 from the foul line.
Belhaven nailed 40 percent from the field (33-of-82) and 6-of-24 (25 percent) from the arc. The Blazers hit 9-of-21 shots from the foul line. Belhaven outrebounded Agnes Scott 54-45.
The Scotties were led in the game by Kayla Jones. Jones scored 12 points with four rebounds to pace the team. Lindsay Moore contributed 10 points. Taylor Brooks finished the contest with securing eight points.
The Blazers placed three players in double-figures, led by Jakiya Jackson with 12 points along with four rebounds. Nadia Cohen collected 11 points, while Xhiir Burgess chipped in 10 points.
The Scotties trailed by 26 at the half 42-16, but came out in the second half to cut the Blazers lead to 36 at 63-27 at the end of the third. Agnes Scott baskets came alive in the fourth quarter where they added 18 points to close out the game. Despite a hard fought game, the Blazers of Belhaven University cruised to the 81-45 victory.
The Scotties will return to the court on November 20th where they will host Brevard College. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
