DECATUR, Ga. - After playing two consecutive games over the weekend the Scotties dropped their match this evening, falling to the Brevard College Tornadoes at home, 18-25, 24-26, 20-25.
Agnes Scott showed great effort, but were out-matched by Brevard. The Tornadoes had 35 kills to Agnes Scott's 32 and 32 assists to Agnes Scott's 27.
"We were really aggressive defensively. We played well offensively but defensively was what set the tone for the night. We held them under 100 hitting percentage that first game. We were getting some big digs, some big blocks and a lot of good things were happening on our side," said head coach Shanna Trone. "Second game we picked that up and we were able to get a close one."
Agnes Scott's best showing came in the second set. They held the lead twice, going up 10-8 and tying the game 22-22 after a 4 point run. The Tornadoes managed to pull the match away with 2 kills and an attack error to round out their final 3 points. Brevard would go on to lead most of the third set, winning it 25-20.
Alex Roquemore was a big asset tonight totaling 11 kills, 2 service aces, 7 digs and one block. Carmen Ross and Summer Davis had 8 and 6 kills respectively.
Roquemore led the Scotties with 11 kills. Taylor Carnley had 23 assists and 9 digs.
Agnes Scott will next close out the regular season as they host Berea and LaGrange College on Saturday, October 30th. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
