Box Score LAGRANGE, Ga.—A season-high 12 points from sophomore Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was not enough to overcome a strong second half from host LaGrange as Agnes Scott women's basketball fell 67-46 on Saturday, January 11. The Scotties led by a point at halftime, but LaGrange outscored the Scotties by 19 in the third period to take command of the game.
Sweat was a major highlight for the Scotties as the wing is starting to find their groove. The sophomore made a career-high four shots from three-point land on only five attempts and finished as the second-leading scorer in the game for either side.
The Scotties surprised the Panthers (8-5, 3-3 USA South) with a gritty performance in the first half, which allowed Agnes to take a 25-24 lead into halftime.
However, LaGrange hit a triple in the first 15 seconds of the second half and they were off. LaGrange outscored Agnes Scott 43-21 over the final 20 minutes of action.
The Panthers did everything they could to take Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) away from Agnes' plans on offense, but the senior still finished with 11 points on six field-goal attempts and four rebounds. Emma Olson (Austin, Texas) also finished an efficient afternoon in double-figures with 10 points.
The Scotties tied their season-high with eight made threes.
Agnes Scott (0-14, 0-5 USA South) heads to Montgomery, Ala. on Tuesday night for another conference tilt with Huntingdon College.
