DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball held off a late surge from Oglethorpe to earn a split of a home tri-match with the Stormy Petrels and fourth-ranked Emory. The Scotties had to earn their money in a five-set victory of the Storm Petrels (25-18, 25-14, 19-25, 23-25, 15-11) before falling to national contender Emory (14-25, 16-25, 16-25) in the finale. The Eagles took down Oglethorpe in three sets in the middle match.

The Scotties move to 6-13. Oglethorpe drops to 2-12 and Emory improves to 16-2.

Agnes Scott controlled the match at the start with a pair of big wins to take the 2-0 match lead. The offense was fully in sync during a 25-18 and 25-14 first two sets, but fell out of rhythm as the match wore on. Despite dropping two close sets the Scotties were able to figure out the kinks on the fifth frame to take their third home victory of the season.

Anna Tomkins (Chapel Hill, N.C.) directed the Scottie offense with 39 assists with 28 of those coming off the hands of Paige Heck (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Morgan Pearson (Pensacola, Fla.). Each of the juniors had 14 kills apiece. Tomkins also had 25 digs to lead the team.

Agnes hit .224 as a team.

The Scotties ran into its stiffest test to date with the fourth-ranked team in the country entering Woodruff Gymnasium in the last match of the day. Emory's hot-hitting offense found spots for much the evening and played stellar defense in moments where the Scotties looked to have an advantage.

Resa Knott (Atlanta, Ga.) led the offense in the second match with six kills.

The Scotties host another tri-match on Saturday when Berea and LaGrange head into Decatur. The Scotties down the Panthers in a non-conference matchup last week.
