Scotties Open 2017 With Loss to Birmingham Southern

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Agnes Scott returned to the hardcourt this evening on the road, falling to Birmingham Southern, 70-38, to open the spring portion of their season. Laniqua Collins led all players with 19 points, but it was not enough as the Panthers (6-6) roared to an early lead and never looked back.

Collins would finish with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists in a well-rounded effort. Garis Grant pitched in with 8 points and a game-high 9 rebounds. The Scotties (1-5) had a strong night on the glass, as they outrebounded the Panthers, 36-33. The Panthers, however, would force 22 turnovers on the evening, while committing only 7 of their own.

The Scotties will take part in their first-ever USA South Athletic Conference game on Saturday as they travel to Huntingdon College for a 2:00 pm CST tilt with the Hawks.
