Scotties' Season Ends with 3-0 Loss to Piedmont

DECATUR, Ga. - In what would turn out to be their final match of the season, the Agnes Scott volleyball team was defeated, 3-0, by visiting Piedmont College. The loss, coupled with Salem College's upset of Huntingdon College, means the Scotties narrowly miss out on a spot in the playoffs for the USA South Conference Championship.

The match, which celebrated lone senior Kayleigh McCrary, was marked by consistent hitting out of the middle for the Lions (18-11, 9-6 USA South) by Katelyn Durmire, who finished with 16 kills, hitting an astronomical .762 for the match. She also contributed on 5 blocks in the match (2 solo, 3 assists).

For the Scotties (12-15, 4-11 USA South), McCrary would have 6 kills, and was in on 4 blocks for the Scotties (1 solo, 3 assists). Anna Tomkins finished the match with 21 assists, while libero Bella Kammerer had 10 digs. 

The Scotties finish 12-15 for the second consecutive season. They picked up 4 conference wins this season, including upsetting North Carolina Wesleyan, in head coach Bailey Thornton's first season at the helm. McCrary is the lone player who graduates, as they Scotties return 6 of 7 starters in 2017.
