DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College volleyball team finished out their home schedule this evening with a 3-0 victory over Great South Athletic Conference foe, Wesleyan College.  The Scotties (7-15, 2-2 GSAC) were led once again by middle hitter Lauren Aikens, who had 16 kills to lead all players.  The Wolves (1-15, 0-4 GSAC) were shut out for the second time this season against the Scotties (25-19, 25-11, 25-12).

The match celebrated the careers of three Scottie players who were playing in their final home game of their careers.  Aikens, senior libero Shelli Sherman, and junior defensive specialist Destiny Dawkins (who will be transferring to Emory as part of the 3-2 nursing program at Agnes Scott) all contributed to the win on the evening.  Sherman led all players with 18 digs on the evening, to go along with 2 kills, aces, and assists.

"It was great to see the team out there having fun tonight and celebrating our seniors," commented Scottie head coach Catherine Geerlings.  "I think we are really in a good place as a team right now, and I am looking forward to the next couple of weekends."

Bonnie Derks also contributed to the effort on the evening, registering 8 kills and a whopping .438 hitting percentage, and Celeste Crowley contributed 10 digs on the evening.  Scottie setter Shakirah Dodson lodged 32 assists to go along with 3 service aces.  The 10.66 assists per set in the match was a season high, nearly doubling her average of 5.54 per set.

The Scotties will return to action this weekend in the Rhodes College Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, before heading to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the GSAC Conference Tournament, beginning Friday, November 7.

Destiny Dawkins, Lauren Aikens, and Shelli Sherman each played in their final home match for the Scotties.
