Box Score The Agnes Scott College volleyball team earned a big conference win over Salem College this afternoon. Winning in straight sets, 25-13, 25-20, 25-11, the Scotties are one step closer to a regular season championship. Both teams are now 3-1 in the conference. Agnes Scott improves to 8-16 overall with one game remaining while Salem falls to 6-15 with two games to go before the GSAC Tournament.
Junior Lauren Aikens led with a season high of 17 kills and a .640 attack percentage. She added two service aces and five blocks. Senior Morgan Bender added 11 kills (.240). Sophomore Shakirah Dodson led with 33 assists while junior Shelli Sherman accumulated 23 digs. Sophomore Natali Rendon rounded out the match with six kills.
As a team, the Scotties recorded their highest attack percentage of the season with a .312. They led Salem in kills 39-24 and led with few errors overall. "It was an excellent performance tonight" remarked head coach Catherine Geerlings. "The team rallied for their seniors and displayed great volleyball; they executed on free balls and had the least amount of unforced errors I've seen all season. We certainly want to carry on the last stretch of the season" continued Coach Geerlings.
The Scotties will play a non-conference game at Covenant College on Tuesday October 29 before traveling to the GSAC Tournament in North Carolina on November 8-9.
