Box Score The Agnes Scott College volleyball team defeated Toccoa Falls College this evening at home 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17)
The two teams switched leads several times in the first set and pulled to an even tie three times. After tying the set 17-17, Agnes Scott finally pulled ahead for a two point win. The second set came to a 21-21 tie before Agnes Scott finally pulled away for the win. The Scotties finally found their stride in the third set, pulling away from an 11-11 tie to win 25-17. The Scotties capitalized on a higher attack percentage, more services aces and fewer errors.
Senior Morgan Bender led with 11 kills (.240), two service aces and six digs. Junior Lauren Aikens was close behind with nine kills (.200), one ace and one block. Briana Vannoy and Shakirah Dodson led with 14 and 13 assists respectively. Dodson also added four blocks. Junior Shelli Sherman totaled 12 digs. First-year Lexus Travis added five kills and three blocks. Sophomore Natali Rendon rounded out the offense with five kills and two service aces.
"This was a good win for us. The team's ball control in the third set allowed us to be effective offensively" said head coach Catherine Geerlings.
The Scotties will return to action at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they take on Huntingdon College in their final home game of the season. The Scotties will honor their two seniors, Morgan Bender and Jynnah Radford, during the game.
