Kerry Busby joined Agnes Scott's coaching staff as the assistant softball coach in 2014, serving in that role for two years before being promoted to head coach in July 2016. Busby graduated from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration and followed that with a Master's degree from Georgia State in Sports Administration.
Busby enters her fifth season overseeing the Agnes Scott softball program with a career mark of 13-97. After a tough season in 2017, Agnes Scott saw marked improvement under Busby's leadership in 2018 as the Scotties improved their overall win total to five games, including an impressive sweep of Sewanee over the season's opening weekend. Busby also coached both CC Siegel and Tiara White to Second Team All-West Division nods in their first seasons in Decatur.
Busby's third season saw even more of an improvement as the Scotties competed for a USA South postseason berth for the first time in program history until the very last day of the season. The Scotties fell on the wrong side of a tiebreaker and saw their season come to a close at 6-28, marking the third consecutive year of improvement in the win column. First-year catcher KayLeigh Fitzgerald garnered a second-team nod in the USA South West Division under Busby's tutelage.
The fourth year as a head coach ended almost before it began. The Scotties again saw improvement across the roster as the team was on pace to break several long-standing program records before the season was canceled due to the CoVID-19 pandemic. Agnes Scott closed the season at 2-8.
Busby was a four-year starter for the Eagles softball team and a two-year team captain. In 2011 Busby played a summer in Europe for the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA). The team traveled to Holland, Belgium, and France and went undefeated. As a catcher, Busby earned second-team all-conference honors in the Capital Athletic Conference in 2013. While an assistant at Agnes Scott Busby helped coach the Scotties to a GSAC Regular Season Championship in 2015 and in 2016 the Scotties won the GSAC and played in the first round of the NCAA Regional in Tyler, TX.
In December 2017, Busby graduated from the Women’s Coaches Academy, class #43.
