DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott (3-2-1) continued their hot streak to start the soccer season, as they dominated possession throughout a 1-0 win over Wesleyan (1-6). The Scotties outshot the Wolves, 24-4, in the contest, and
Iris Ray scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute off a perfect feed from
Piper Martinsen for the only offense the Scotties would need.
The Scotties pressed the ball into the Wolves' half of the field on multiple occasions. One of the stories on the day was the play of Wesleyan goalkeeper, Brooke Hankinson, who fended off 13 of 14 shots on goal by the Scotties. Players for the Scotties having multiple shots on goal included leading scorer
Damaris Gaines (3),
Laura Damonte (3) and Ray, who finished with 7 shots, including 4 on target including the game winner.Â
In goal,
Olivia Rosario and Mariana Serment Alvarez each played a half for the Scotties, combining for the shutout win. Each of them had one save in goal, as the Wolves were only able to generate two shots on target in the contest.
The Scotties will enter conference play on Saturday as they play host to LaGrange (2-4-1) at 5:00 p.m. at Gellerstedt Field.
