DEMOREST, Ga. - Agnes Scott suffered a doubleheader defeat at the hands of Piedmont University today, falling by scores of 8-0 and 15-1, on the road in Collegiate Conference of the South action. Piedmont was stingy on defense, allowing only 4 Scottie hits throughout the 2 contests.
In Game 1, Piedmont (13-9, 4-0 CCS) benefited from a 6-inning no-hitter thrown by Megan Steinmeyer, who struck out 5 on the day while limiting the Scotties to only two baserunners on the day. Bryn Grenwood suffered the loss on the mound for the Scotties, allowing 8 runs over 5.2 innings.
In Game 2, the Scotties looked to have righted the ship in the top of the first inning, as Greenwood aided her team at the plate, ripping a double into the outfield, which scored
Taylor Selby from second base.
Kenzie Beaudoin would single to advance Greenwood to third with one out, and
Jada Howard was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. However, the Lions would get out of the jam by throwing out Greenwood at home on a fielder's choice before claiming the third out on a pop up with bases loaded to end the threat. Defensively, the Scotties would struggle with 7 errors throughout the contest, as only 5 of the 15 runs for the Lions were earned runs. Greenwood would finish the game going 2-for-3 at the plate with the lone RBI.
