ROANOKE, Va. - Agnes Scott continued their basketball season at the Hollins Empowerment Classic this afternoon, falling to William Peace, 87-56. The Scotties (0-4) will continue searching for their first win of the season on Saturday as they face off with Warren Wilson (0-5).
In the William Peace contest, the Scotties played a sensational first quarter, overcoming an early 7-point deficit to finish the quarter with the lead, 20-18. They would extend their lead to four after an
Anissa Brailsford 3-pointer with 8:17 to go in the second quarter, but after that it would be all Pacers, as they raced away using the long ball, finishing the first half on a 25-4 run, knocking down 61% from long distance. The Pacers (3-2) entered halftime with a 48-27 lead and never looked back.
For the Scotties,
Kaycie Hyde had her biggest game of her college career, as the freshman finished the game with 15 points, 4 rebounds and a team-high 3 assists. Brailsford continued her strong start to the season, as she also pitched in with 15 points, and added 10 boards for her first double-double of the season.
Ryley Jolly added 9 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Ball handling was a highlight for the Scotties as well, as they committed a season-low in turnovers with 18.Â
William Peace would finish the contest shooting 12-for-22 from long distance, as well as outrebounding the Scotties, 54-34. Ensley Perry led all scorers with 22 points, including 4-for-5 from long distance.Â
