DEMOREST, Ga. - Agnes Scott continued their volleyball season on Tuesday night as they traveled to Piedmont (7-23, 4-10 Collegiate Conference of the South). The Scotties (0-17, 0-14 CCS) had one of their most competitive showings of the season, combining scrappy defense with an outstanding outing by junior outside hitter,
Madison Stidum. In the end, the Lions were still too much for the Scotties, as they fell in straight sets, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16).
Stidum, to her credit, led all players in multiple categories, logging her second double-double of the season. She finished the night with 16 kills and 14 digs. The Scotties also had an outstanding night on the defensive end, logging a season-high 42 digs on the evening. Sophomore
Sarah Fedrick was one dig short of reaching double figures, logging 9 digs, while
Breanna Brooker pitched in with 7 digs as well.Â
Other noteworthy performances were setter
Paige Ford registering 14 assists, the third time this season she has reached double figures in assists, and
Valeria Castro, who pitched in defensively with 5 digs, and also registered an ace and a kill for the Scotties, her first of each on the season, as the freshman defensive specialist was called upon to play the whole way around as the Scotties once again fielded only 6 players. Brooker also contributed offensively, logging a kill, a block, and two aces.
The Scotties will wrap up their regular season this weekend as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to face off with Huntingdon College and Covenant on Saturday, November, 1.
