MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Agnes Scott Scotties (13-25) fell in the opening round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, dropping a 9-1 decision to Maryville College (30-12). With the loss, the Scotties will await the loser of today's contest between top-seeded Huntingdon College and Piedmont. That game will take place at 4:00 p.m. at the Huntingdon College softball complex.
In Wednesday's game, the Scotties put several balls in play, but a strong Maryville defense prevented the Scotties from having the offensive output necessary to keep up with the hot bats of the Scots. On the day, the Scotties managed only two hits, but also drew 6 walks.
Kristen Gilbert and
Sadie McCallum accounted for the two hits on the day, while
Colleen Thorson and
Keke Mays each drew two walks. On the mound,
Bryn Greenwood suffered the loss, going 3 innings and scattering 6 hits with 5 earned runs.Â
