DECATUR, Ga. - The defense of Clark Atlanta University (13-28) and the weather in Decatur both led to a difficult night for Agnes Scott (11-20), as the Scotties dropped the first game of their doubleheader, 10-2, before rain washed out the nightcap.
In Game 1, Clark Atlanta scored twice in both the first and second innings, while their defense held Agnes Scott without a baserunner until the 4th inning, when
Colleen Thorson belted a triple to left field to finally get the Scotties a scoring opportunity.
Kilee Thomas bunted into a fielder's choice and beat out the throw, scoring Thorson one batter later. In the top of the 6th inning, Myia Lambert of CAU put things out of reach with a deep 3-run homer to left-center, stretching the Clark Atlanta lead to 9 runs.Â
In the loss,
Sadie McCallum finished 2-for-3 from the plate, including a double, and Thorson scored both runs for the Scotties, to go along with a stolen base.
Agnes Scott will look to get back on track in Collegiate Conference of the South play this weekend, as they host LaGrange College on Saturday, April 13 at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, followed by a Sunday doubleheader with #11 Huntingdon College, also at noon and 2:00 pm.Â
