Scotties Falter in Weekend Series

Decatur, GA-- The Softball Scotties were defeated in conference match-up with Belhaven University and cross town-foes Emory University.

Belhaven University Double-Header

Game 1: Belhaven 7, Agnes 0

In the first game, the Scotties were held to just two hits provided by PresLee Hix  and Beck Littlehale. In the circle, Bryn Greenwood picked up four strikeouts and Kyra Hornsby picked up two strikeouts in her one inning of relief. 

Game 2: Belhaven 10, Agnes 2

The Scotties faced early adversity in the second game with Belhaven putting up four runs in the top of the first inning. With a seven run lead in the bottom of the fifth, the Scotties pushed across their first run of the day on a sacrifice fly by Colleen Thorson . Belhaven added to their lead in the subsequent three innings. The Scotties pushed another run across the plate in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice bunt by Keke Mays scoring b leonardi bringing the final score to 2-10. 

Emory University Double-Header

Game 1: Emory 12, Agnes 7

The Scotties began their scoring early by plating a run in the first inning off a walk to Thorson. The Eagles responded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. 

In the top of the second, hitting for herself, Hutto led-off with a double; however, she was left on base. The Eagles plated another run in the bottom of the second to increase their lead to 1-3.

In the top of the third, the Scotties cut into the lead with a single by Hix followed by a RBI double by Thorson bringing the score to 3-2. After holding the Eagles scoreless, the Scotties took the lead in the top of the fourth by scoring two runs on two outs. A Hix single and a Thorson walk scored on a double by Kilee Thomas to bring the Scotties ahead 5-3.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles plated seven runs on eight hits to take back the lead and bringing the score to 5-10. The Scotties battled back in the top of the sixth by scoring two runs with RBIs from Thorson and Barker to bring the Scotties within 3 runs. 

The Eagles plated two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to increase their lead to 7-12 which remained the game score.

The Scotties return to action this week with three home double-headers:

Wednesday, March 20 vs Clark Atlanta University at 3PM and 5 PM (Oakhurst Park)
Friday, March 22 vs Piedmont University at 2PM and 4PM (Oakhurst Park)
Sunday, March 24 vs St Olaf College at 1PM and 3PM (Oakhurst Park)
