DECATUR, Ga. - Fresh off their upset win over Brenau in Friday night's first game, Hollins (2-0, 0-0 ODAC) kept their momentum going on Saturday afternoon and ruined the home opener for Agnes Scott (0-1, 0-0 CCS), downing the Scotties, 73-42. At the contest, the newly inducted Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was honored at halftime. The contest was part of the Agnes Scott Tipoff Classic.
Cold shooting and 25 turnovers were the story of the Scotties on the afternoon, as they struggled to make baskets, and Hollins applied pressure throughout, resulting in several turnovers. The Scotties were led in the game by two freshmen,
Ryley Jolly and
Anissa Brailsford, who each contributed 10 points in the losing effort. The Scotties' leading returning scorer,
Laila Williams, was limited to 18 minutes with foul trouble throughout, picking up her 5th foul early in the 4th quarter. She still finished the game with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Scottie center
Sydney Evans led all players with 8 rebounds.
Hollins was led by sharpshooting from reserve guard Grayson Alfano, who was 4-for-5 from three-point range and finished with 14 points. Cabria Mutz also contributed 14 points in the paint. The two teams combined for 56 attempts from beyond three-point range, with Hollins making 10 to the Scotties' 4.
Agnes Scott will return to the court in the final contest of the tournament, facing off with Brenau at 2:00 p.m. in the Woodruff Athletic Center.
