Tennis beats LaGrange College 7-2

LaGrange, Ga. – The Agnes Scott College tennis team defeated the LaGrange College Panthers this afternoon 7-2. In singles the Scotties were especially strong, winning five of their matches in straight sets.

At the #1 and #2 singles spots Gor'Nese Turner and Brandy Nalyanya had quick matches.  Nalyanya took control early and won 6-1, 6-0. She was the first to finish. Turner played consistent tennis in her match, but also attacked on short balls. She won 6-0, 6-0.

"Overall performance today I thought was outstanding," head coach Keva Godfrey said. "We left it all on the court– both during doubles and singles matches. The players left it all on the court today and we were rewarded with a win. The girls did a really good job."

At #3 Leilah Lewinson played a competitive match where she was able to capitalize in big moments, however, and it secured her the win 6-2, 6-1.

The Scotties also got wins at #4 and #5. Kat Toral Castillo remained focused to win 6-3, 6-2. Caroline Gladstein played clean at #5, winning 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, Lewinson and Turner had a solid win at #1 with their strong cross-court shots. They won 8-2. At #2 doubles, Toral-Castillo and Gladstein clinched the win 8-5.
