HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Agnes Scott College tennis team lost to St. Mary's College of Maryland, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Evian Tennis Center. The win moves the Seahawks to 3-3 overall while the Scotties fall to 0-4 overall.
Doubles
- St. Mary's swept doubles, 3-0. Hallie Hershey and Hannah Gorel defeated Brandy Nalyanya and Gor'Nese Turner in the No.1 spot this afternoon, 8-3. Despite a good effort the Seahawks took the No. 2 spot by a score of 8-2.
- In the No. 3 spot, Saint Mary's College of Maryland took a victory by forfeit.
Singles
- Brandy Nalyana, Gor'Nese Turner and Leilah Lewinson competed in singles at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 spot against the Seahawks. Nalyana yielded a 6-1, 6-0 decision with Gorel taking the victory. St. Mary's Hershey collected the two set victory with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. In the No. 3 spot, St. Mary's Manspeaker finished on top, winning both sets 6-2.
- The Seahawks secured another victory at the No. 4 spot with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. St. Mary's Harris collected the No. 5 spot victory with the scores of 6-3 and 6-0. St. Mary's College took home a win by forfeit in the No. 6 spot.
The Scotties will return to action on Wednesday, March 16 for a match-up against Lancaster Bible College. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
