MACON, Ga. – The Agnes Scott College basketball closed out the 2022 season securing a 49-45 victory over the Wolves of Wesleyan College on Saturday, February 13
th inside Porter Gymnasium.
Agnes Scott pulled out their best defensive effort of the season to date, allowing just 45 points, the lowest point total this year, while forcing 22 turnovers in the win.
Ivey Portis led the Scotties as she put up 14 points and added five rebounds.
Taylor Brooks added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Lindsay Moore and
Kayla Jones rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points each respectively.
The Wolves started the game with adding 12 points to take the advantage over Agnes Scott. ASC forced Wesleyan College into nine first half turnovers, and holding the Wolves to just 24 points on 9-32 shooting from the field.
Leading 4-0 with 6:22 remaining in the opening period, the Wolves continued to add points over the next remaining minutes to jump out to a 12-711 lead.
Ivey Portis closed out the scoring for the Scotties with adding a basket with 1:02 left.
The Scotties continued to add points with
Sierra Lee securing the opening basket to make the score 13-12. The wolves advanced the lead 21-15 with 5:08 left in the quarter. After a bucket by
Lindsay Moore with 35 seconds remaining, the Wolves went into the half with a 24-20 lead.
The Scotties open the third with adding two points from a basket by
Lindsay Moore.
Lindsay Moore then collected a basket to cut the Wolves lead 31-26 with 6:03 left in the third quarter. ASC would continue to cut the Wolves lead 35-34 on a fre throw by
Taylor Brooks with 1:44 in the quarter. Lee closed out the quarter with securing a layup with 41 seconds left to edge Wesleyan 36-35 after three.
The Scotties would not look back en route to the victory.
