ATLANTA, Ga. – The Agnes Scott College volleyball team (0-26, 0-13 CCS) fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, and 25-16) to the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University (13-19, 7-11 SIAC) Monday night inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
First year
Zoie Pace (Locus Grove, Ga.) led the Scotties with seven kills, one service ace, one block and one assist. Junior
Summer Davis (Atlanta, Ga.) had four kills and six digs.
In the first set, the Panthers took a 9-5 lead after three-straight miscues from the Scotties. Eventually CAU would stretch its lead to double digits over ASC before capturing the set point on a Panthers kill.
The second set was all Clark Atlanta as the Panthers had seven services aces in route to the 25-11 set win and 2-0 lead.
Agnes Scott took a early lead in the third but CAU followed up with eight-straight points to take an 8-2 lead. The Scotties went on a mini run, scoring seven unanswered to pull within three (13-10) but the Panthers managed to tack on three more points before going on an 8-4 scoring frame to close out the set win (25-16) and match victory.
CAU finished with 38 kills, 40 digs, 34 assists and seven services aces while Agnes Scott collected 20 kills, 19 assists and 25 digs.
Agnes Scott will next travel to Macon, Georgia for a Collegiate Conference of the South match-up against Wesleyan College on Wednesday, October 26. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
